

Strong Showing At East Grand Rapids Tri Regatta
The Lowell Crew Team competed on Saturday, April 26th in the East Grand Rapids Tri Regatta. Lowell, Northview and East Grand Rapids rowers spent a cold and windy morning challenging the 1000 meter course on the choppy waters of Reeds Lake. The Junior Women’s 8 power stroked “The Spirit of Lowell” to a 1st place finish. The Senior Women’s 4 and Senior Men’s 4 sculls placed 2nd and the Senior Men’s 4 rowed to a third place finish. Come out and support the team this weekend at Riverside Park on the Grand River in Grand Rapids as our rowers compete in the Western Michigan Rowing Championship. Check out our Learn To Row program scheduled to begin on May 19th.
Crew Club Christmas Float Brings 2nd Place Honors
A huge Thank You to all that made our Christmas float a real crowd pleaser along the chilly, snow covered streets of Main Street on December 1st. We Received 2nd place honors. A special thanks to Dave and Heather Hibbits and Dave Cadwallader for pulling this all together on a very timetable. We would also like to thank John Timpson for the use of his storage facility and flatbed trailer.
Lowell Crew Club Wraps Up A Successful Season
Lowell Crew finished the season with a strong performance at Culver. Ten crew’s from Ohio, Indiana and Michigan competed in 17 events. Lowell Crew finished the season strong, setting a club record with 4 boats to the final races at Culver. The Woman’s Junior 8 medaled with a 3rd place finish, the club’s first medal at Culver. Highlights from the season included a 3rd place medal at the East Grand Rapids Regatta by the woman’s Novice 8. The Men’s and Womans Varsity 8 boats were unable to race at East Grand Rapids due to strong winds late in the day. Lowell Crew’s roster of 32 HS students worked hard throughout the year with voluntary conditioning in the fall and winter. The students also found time to raise nearly $4,000 to purchase equipment through events such as cleaning the stadium after football games.
